2009 Honda Accord Performance

The 2009 Honda Accord comes in two body styles- two-door coupe and four-door sedan and it is available with the following engine choices:
- 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine and
- 3.5-liter V-6 engine
The LX and LX-P sedans are powered by a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine, that generates 177 horsepower and 161 pound-feet of torque. An upgraded version of 2.4-liter engine that produces 190 horsepower also comes standard on the EX sedans and all coupes. The 3.5-liter, V6 engine comes available on the EX trim levels, that produces 271 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque or 251 lb-ft on manual-shift on V6 coupes. The four-cylinder engines are available in five-speed manual. The V6-powered sedans come standard with a five-speed automatic transmission, which is also available with all four-cylinder engines as well as V6-powered Accord coupes. The V6 coupe is available with a six-speed manual.
Fuel economy of the new Honda Accord is quite impressive, even with the V6. Four-cylinder Accords achieve 21 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway with the automatic transmission. However, with manual transmission, the four-cylinder engine achieves 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway. The six-cylinder engine gets you 19 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon (28 mpg in automatic coupes) on the highway, when mated to an automatic transmission. With manual transmission, the V6 engine delivers 17 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway.
