2009 Honda Civic - Introduction

Honda Civic debuted in the American motoring scene in the early 1970s and since then the fuel-efficient compact car has been a symbol of great reliability, and of course, it has become one of most popular cars in the United States. The year 2006 remarked the last complete redesign of the Civic when it adapted a smooth, aerodynamic shape with a futuristic, as well as spacious interior.
The Civic grew in size, power, and features year-after-year. For years it has set the quality and performance standard for the affordable, compact car market. For the current year, the Honda Civic is spacious, comfortable, economical as always, and enjoyable to drive. It is slightly revised for 2009, however, it still retains its futuristic inside and out styling. Once again, the compact car scores top marks for quality and reliability.
The 2009 model of the Civic retains the basic 2006-generation engineering and dimensions. The new Civic gets a facelift with a slightly revised grille, a new front bumper cover with larger air intakes, and new headlight & taillight color combinations featuring clear turn indicator lenses with amber bulbs. Moreover, the 2009 Civic adds two new trim lines. :-
The Civic comes in two body styles. They are:
- 4-door sedan
- 2-door coupe
New Honda Civic offers several distinct powertrain combinations, including gasoline, gasoline-electric hybrid, and natural gas-powered versions under these two body styles. New LX-S and DX-VP sedans join the current lineup, while last year's limited-edition Mugen Si sedan is no longer offered this year. The DX Value Package or DX-VP sedan is built on the entry-level Civic DX sedan and it features standard equipment, such as air conditioning and an audio system. The Civic LX-S sedan comes with alloy wheels and sportier interior styling. The new alloy-wheel designs are also introduced on the Civic EX, Civic EX-L and Civic Si models, along with the fog lamps for the Civic Si model.
Overall, Civic offers ten models, ranging from fuel-sipper to racetrack-ripper, under two body styles (four-door sedan and two-door coupe). The 2009 Honda Civic is available with four engines, including a gas-electric hybrid and another that runs on compressed natural gas. All Civics have a four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive.
