2009 Honda Element | Review

For 2009, Honda Element has been restyled and built on its spacious and versatile character, which adds more chiseled exterior appearance and a refreshed interior design. Some of the significant exterior styling changes of the 2009 Element include, a new front grille and bumper design; restyled front fenders (replacing composite material); a new hood design; squared wheel arches; new headlight and taillight configurations.

Along with exterior, the interior of the new Element is styled with an expanded selection of available high-tech and functional features. A few new interior changes include, new & brighter color schemes with titanium-look side linings; new fabric patterns & revised switchgear designs; and meter graphics. Some of the high-tech features of the SUV include, a Satellite-linked Navigation System with Voice Activation; a rearview camera (only on automatic transmission-equipped models); and USB digital media connectivity.

The 2009 Honda Element is available in three models. They are:

  • The base LX
  • Up-level EX and
  • Sportier SC

All Element models are powered by Honda's 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine with i-VTEC, which produces 166 horsepower and 161 pound-feet of torque. Its fuel economy is rated at 18 miles per gallon in the city and 23 miles per gallon on the highway for SC; and 20 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway for LX and EX models. The engine is coupled with either a five-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual transmission.
